“Vinasco is a virtuoso in every sense of the word, but it is an understated virtuosity that is always in service of the music”, said The Clarinet magazine in 2008, about the CD “Astor Piazzolla / Heitor Villa-Lobos”, with which Javier Vinasco and the Mexican pianist Edith Ruiz were nominated to the Latin Grammy awards in the Best Tango Album categorie.

Mr. Vinasco earned a Doctor in Music degree (PhD) from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, with Alfonso Caso medal, the highest honour for a graduated. He is the Colombian National Chair Person in the International Clarinet Association, and founder and director of the International Clarinet Festival of Medellin ClariSax.

Mr. Vinasco has always been interested in contemporary music, he has recorded more than 80 works by Latin American composers and premiered many of them. He has worked closely with composers Diego Vega, Andrés Posada, Francisco Zumaqué, Gabriela Ortiz, Mario Lavista and Manuel De Elías, among others. He has played like soloist with many orchestras like Sinfónica Nacional de Cuba, Sinfónica Municipal de Caracas, Sinfónica Nacional de Colombia, Filarmónica de Bogotá, Filarmónica de Medellín, Filarmónica de Cali, Sinfónica EAFIT, Sinfónica del Valle, Sinfónica de Juventudes Francisco de Miranda, and also as principal clarinet of City of London Sinfonia and Sinfónica del Estado de México.

Mr. Vinasco has been invited to perform and teach to Japan, United States of America, Canada, Italy, Belgium, Mexico, Panama, Cuba, Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Colombia. Before his doctoral studies, Mr. Vinasco earned a Master in Music degree in Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México under Luis Humberto Ramos, Diploma di Clarinetto in Conservatorio Ottorino Respighi (Italy) under Francesco Belli, Licentiate in Music in Universidad del Valle (Colombia) under Emilio Montoya, and private lessons with Roberto Mantilla.
Mr. Vinasco takes part of portfolio of Gestar Cultural music management agency. From 2008, he works in Music Department at Universidad EAFIT (Medellin - Colombia), where is Full Professor and chair of the Master in Music program.
